Baptism

Baptism is a beautiful and meaningful step in the Christian faith. It is a moment of celebration, symbolising the transformation that occurs when a person chooses to follow Jesus. As a public declaration of faith, baptism represents a believer’s commitment to God and their new life in Christ. Whether you are exploring baptism for the first time or ready to take this step, we invite you to learn more about its significance and what it means for your faith journey.
Baptism Explained
Baptism represents a believer’s new life in Christ. The act of being submerged in water signifies dying to our old way of life, and rising from the water represents being raised to a new life through Jesus. It is an outward expression of an inward change, a step of obedience in following Jesus and expressing faith in action.
Anyone who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour is encouraged to be baptised. It is a step of obedience that Jesus Himself demonstrated and commanded His followers to take (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism does not save a person, but it is a powerful act of faith that follows salvation.
Baptism is important because it is a sacrament instituted by Christ, a means of grace, and a sign of our union with Him. It marks the beginning of our Christian journey and is a reminder of God’s saving work. Through baptism, we are welcomed into the family of the Church and called to live as faithful disciples of Christ.
